Mariana Zopel Artwork

Born in a village in north-west Romania, Mariana discovered her love for art at an early age.
After getting a Bachelor in Fine Arts at the University of Oradea, Romania she began her artistic career creating mural paintings for public institutions and private homes, illustrating books, and creating hand made cards and children portraits for a social assistance foundation's fundraising.
Moving to USA she participated in art exhibitions in Alaska and Hawai'i. She became the scenic director for The Secret Garden show at Wasilla Theater in Alaska for which she received the Valley Performing Arts Award for Best Set Design in 2010.
Since moving to the Big Island of Hawai'i in 2012 she participated in numerous exhibitions at Wailoa Center in Hilo where her art received awards on different occasions and some sold to private owners and to HSFCA.
In 2024 she participated in a Hawai'i Nei Invitational Exhibition at the Volcano Art Center.
Mariana's art is diverse as the variety of muses that inspire her work. Her newest and lasting passion is creating in the media of mosaics in which she found a unique style and voice.
She loves to explore the themes of hula dancers and endemic species of Hawai'i.
